Terra Pacific Promotes Mountain River Venison at ABASTUR, Mexico City - August 2025 - Mexican Market Activities

Mountain River Venison was recently showcased at ABASTUR 2025 in Mexico City - Latin America’s largest and most influential hospitality and food-service trade show. The event, held from August 27–29, brought together over 400 exhibitors and 19,000 industry professionals from across Mexico and the Americas.


Angus Cleland of Terra Pacific, together with distributor partner Gastrosophia S.A. de C.V., represented Mountain River Venison and Coastal Lamb at the event.
ABASTUR is a key meeting point for hoteliers, restaurateurs, chefs, and catering professionals, offering a glimpse into the future of Latin American gastronomy. With Mexico preparing for a surge in international tourism ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the show provided a strategic opportunity to connect with hospitality buyers in one of the world’s fastest-growing food-service markets.
Gastrosophia S.A. de C.V. is based in Mexico City, with a new division recently opened in Puerto Vallarta. Gastrosophia is a leading supplier of premium imported and domestic proteins. The company serves restaurants, hotels, banquet halls, and catering institutions across Mexico, specialising in perishable categories including beef, poultry, lamb, pork, seafood, and “exóticos” (exotic meats). They also supply non-meat items such as pulses, seeds, and dried goods.
Managing Partner, Julian Trueba, has maintained a 32-year commercial relationship with Angus Cleland, working closely through Terra Pacific Marketing to coordinate supply from U.S. distribution hubs. Gastrosophia has been a long-time supporter of the Mountain River Venison and Coastal Lamb programs.
Their joint presence at ABASTUR followed Angus’s market visit in November 2024, which included meetings with restaurant operators and presentations to the Gastrosophia sales team.
This year’s event saw a strong turnout, with meaningful engagement from invited buyers and hospitality professionals. As Julian Trueba summed up:
