Iffley Farm in North Canterbury, owned by John and Pauline McGrath and managed by Scott and Jo Hassall, supplies deer to Mountain River.
With over 20 years’ experience, Scott oversees a mixed farming system of deer, sheep, and cattle that supports pasture management and diversified income.
The farm uses a pasture-based feeding system with lucerne, silage, and forage crops. Long-term commitment and investment have created a natural, well-managed environment for raising healthy deer.
Scott Hassall of Iffley Farm won a 2023 Industry Award for his practical and innovative farming approach, which includes cut-and-carry cropping and smart silage waste management, thereby reducing environmental impact in a challenging environment.
